Hoy shootout

Llevais tres post con enlaces que no veo que sean novedades de la tecnología OLED. No molesta excesivamente pero si hace perder un poco el tiempo.

Os pongo una noticia, que aunque hace referencia a la tecnología OLED en los smartphones, si hace pensar y reflexionar por si en el OLED de tv podría suceder algo similar o no:

Las ventas de la tecnología OLED siguen creciendo:

On the other hand, TV OLED panel shipments are growing 370,000 units, up 165.0% from 140,000 units a year earlier. Compared to the previous quarter (306,000 units), it increased 21.2%.

The OLED TV market is expected to expand gradually this year with Sony’s participation in OLED TV camps.

LG Display’s Paju E4 new line is expected to be fully operational from 3Q and TV OLED panel production is expected to increase steadily.

Una comparativa entre una OLED B7 y la Pioneer Kuro KRP-500M:

Whitebalance set on the B7 after whitepoint matching to the 500M.
Basicly Green color was too high on the B7 so i had to drop it -5
Any whitebalance or color differences here is due to the cameras metameric issues.
Both tvs looks identical now when watching them side by side.

And for the record here is a 100% white field

This is in the same league as the 500M for uniformity
No color tints or banding just solid white screen.
Best i have seen on any tv i have tested in the last years for sure

if someone can spot any differences between these two tvs let me know
after the whitepoint matching its impossible.
The B7 is crazy close to the 500M now and its a good thing because that means that i can retire the 500M for good now
the B7 is so close to the reference picture from the 500M that any differences is nothing to bother about.

Also motion is better than the old B6
even there its hard to see any differences.
the 500M should have sharper details in motion but the B7 does a great job here.
there is proably some interpolation going on with De Blur and De Judder both at 1 but there is no soap effect.

the B7 also delivers slight sharper deails overall than the 500M with blu ray.

A mí sinceramente lo de "recortar" prestaciones al modo SDR para encajarlo dentro de los nits "máximos", me parece demasiado de purista radical. Sabiendo que en SDR puedes lograr hasta 350 nits puntualmente, ¿porqué hacer algo así?. Si precisamente es lo cojonudo, poder ver mucha más potencia de highlights pero sin que afecte al negro absoluto. ¡Es una delicia!.

Entiendo el propósito, y entiendo que un colorista en su monitor de estudio tenga que seguir esas normas, pero decididamente no estoy de acuerdo. No ahora que estos televisores dan mucho más que cuando se establecieron las normas.

Bajar la luz oled a 24 es un sinsentido, aún estando a oscuras por completo. Eso sí, sube el contraste a 99, que es lo que habitualmente se suele hacer en estos casos (¡y sin clipping!). Yo lo tengo a 96, podría darle un poco más de punch, jaja.

Lo de empatar las dos teles, no se si tiene un sentido lógico. Es decir, lo ideal es ajustar el display "a norma", no empatarlo frente a otro tv que puede estar a norma, pero también tener alguna desviación. Entiendo que no, que está perfecto.

Ojilo lo que se viene:

Ya son DOCE las marcas que llevarán paneles OLED de LG (que a la postre es el único fabricante).

Se espera que en 2018 hayan más modelos que se puedan fijar a la pared directamente (como la serie W) y se espera que sus ventas supongan el 30% del total de las ventas de OLED (ya pueden hacer una buena rebaja de precios si quieren lograr esos porcentajes).

También se espera la llegada de una nueva tecnología en la décima generación de paneles, que permitiría llegar a 8K (prescindible para la inmensa mayoría) y el soporte VRR y HFR (de la mano de HDMI 2.1, que permite esas bonitas brujuladas).

Es interesante leer los comentarios, muchas veces acertados, que complementan el artículo. No os quedéis con el titular. Hay que leer A FONDO.

For the Philips TV to be such a clear winner was a genuine surprise but what also surprised was how poorly the Panasonic EZ952 scored, especially as it has the most accurate picture in terms of colour.

Whilst we weren't surprised that Philips performed well in the second part of the shootout, a score of 68% was huge and clearly justified Philips's faith in their own processing. Interestingly the Panasonic performed much better in this section which, when you consider that image accuracy is their strong point, was rather surprising. The poor showing of the Sony A1 and LG C7 was also a surprise, with both TVs really struggling in some of the motion tests, whilst the C7 ironically performed poorly on the manufacturer's own HDR test clip.

Es curioso que la Philips quede en primer lugar. Me chirría que sea Philips el organizador del evento, pero en el artículo dejan claro que no han sido condicionados por ellos y bueno, me lo tengo que creer. Me hubiese gustado que ninguna marca lo hubiese patrocinado, pero al menos el esfuerzo de hacer un verdadero test ciego es valorable.

Ahora bien, lo del test en modo vivos es para apalearlos, jajaja. Habrá alguno que le mole ese modo, pero decididamente es un despropósito.

Fíjate en los resultados de calibrado... donde ha quedado la Sony A1 y la EZ950.... donde está esa supremacia de que la electrónica marca la diferencia? .

No lo digas muy alto que nos invaden...

Si que es raro si, que la Philips les saque tanta diferencia, no??
