Philips has announced the first LCD TV to utilize Ambilight Full surround, wherein coloured light is emitted top, bottom, left and right of the screen. The Cineos 42PF9831D is a 42in. HD-Ready LCD set with inbuilt DTT tuner and a glossy cabinet which extends around the screen on all sides. Philips, a company that made its name producing lamp-bulbs nearly a hundred years ago, is totally committed to Ambilight - a technology that remains totally unique to the company’s screen products. In conjunction with the Lighting Research Centre of the Rensselaer Polytechnic in New York, it has conducted much research into the effects of ambient lighting on eyestrain and visual fatigue. The results conclude that, in terms of watching TV, such illumination does produce a ‘modest improvement’. A second study, by the Dutch Foundation on Light and Health, appeared back up these findings. Ambilight was said to yield a ‘more pleasant viewing experience’ by 75% of respondents, a reduction in eyestrain by 73% of respondents, and an ‘overall improvement in viewing experience’ by 67% of respondents. A sample of Ambilight TV buyers were somewhat more lavish in their praise - one went as far to say that “without Ambilight, it’s only 80% of a TV”. Others confirmed that their next TV would also be an Ambilight-equipped model. To satisfy demand for Ambilight flat-panel TVs, Philips is introducing more models with the technology, including the 37PF9731D, which is a comparatively-affordable - approximately 3,500 euro in mainland Europe - 37in. set with three-channel (top and sides) Ambilight Surround. Others use an enhanced version of the two-channel Ambilight system that debuted last year.
Also: Philips’ will join the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) market this Summer, with the UK launch of a pair of VoIP PC telephones optimized for use with Skype and Microsoft’s Live Messenger respectively. Written by Martin Pipe.

Bueno, por fin despues de tanto esperar veo que ha llegado la tele que tanto esperaba, ahora solo falta que la pongan en la tienda y a comprarla, es acojonante, el otro dia vi otra philips con clear LCD, sin ambilight ni pixel plus y se notaba la diferencia.Ademas tiene un bonido diseño, va ha ser k por fin tengo tele nueva..........................................
