I currently own a Ps3, but previously owned an Xbox 360 and in my opinion the xbox controller is much better than the PS3 controller. So I was quite looking forward to this PowerA controller.
Unfortunatly its not as good as it looks!
1.The "soft" grips are infact hard plastic, and yea sure you'll probably get used to it, but after 30 minutes it was getting pretty uncomfortable.
2.The shoulder buttons to me seem to be the wrong shape, they should've just used the 360 styled ones, if you're like me and tend to use only your index finger to switich between R1 and R2 and the L's then you may find your fingers dont sit naturally on R1 and L1 but instead just behind these buttons.
3. If you're a fan of FPS games then beware! when zooming in (looking down the scope) of a gun you will realise how bad the right analogue is, it is very hard to aim accuratly and you may find yourself always firing slightly to the left and right of targets.

What with GT5 coming soon i'd figured i'd need a new pad, at least one where the triggers have some longer play then the Duelshock 3. I appreciate that whilst many good racers will use a wheel, many Forza players can play well with a Pad. The Duelshock is useless for this and sadly, so is this.
The Pad itself it okay for stock games, but the Dpad is shocking.
A typical cross design thats far too big and doesn't have the underside support. The Madcatz PS3/360 controllers are exactly the same.
The analog sticks have slightly more tension then the loose DS ones - a good thing in my book as it makes steering in GT5 slightly better.
The grip too is okay, although its worth is subjective. If you don't sweat, the DS3 won't cause use many problems.
The buttons are fairly solid and light up (albeit dimly).
Finally and the most important thing for racing games bearing in mind the king of console racers is due upon us soon - the triggers. This is the ONE thing that sets the 360 aside from the PS3 controller. Its what makes wheel and pad users be able to post similar times.
The play in the DS3 triggers is shocking. Not just the shape, but the amount they move by. And this controller makes no difference. YES the triggers are concave, but they still move by such a small amount that holding the trigger halfway (to hold the gas or for braking without skidding) is very hard and as such, any tactile responce is lost.
Other then that its not a bad pad. Feels better made then a DS3 although the Dpad spoils it a bit.
Oh and whist we're on the subject, the i have a convertor to run the 360 pad through a PS3 and guess what?
Theres no analog support at all. The triggers are digital so don't waste your money on those either.

Ok, so I got this through the week as a replacement for the god awful DS3 pad that Sony produced.
I own a 360 as well as the PS3 and since its launch I have bemoaning the fact that Sony have insisted in keeping the analogue sticks in probably the most unnatural position for an average human being. The pad has probably been the main reason I have not considered the PS3 as a games console, more of a glorified Blu-Ray player if you like. But now with this pad, oh yes I can finally enjoy a game on the old grill.
People have been saying about "deadzones" and how this pad is no good for FPS games and to be honest I cannot argue with that at this stage. I have spent all afternoon playing Heavy Rain, mainly because it includes 6 axis control and I wanted to see how this controller responded. And I can say that it worked perfectly for me, no issues syncing or during play (inc 6 axis moments), just an all round good experience.
All I can say is if you are like me and own a PS3 but cannot get along with that effort of a controller Sony continue to force upon us, then buy this.
