Panasonic presents two new Full HD plasma displays with the highest contrast ratio in the world
Panasonic Professional Displays Europe has announced that it is introducing its two high-end home cinema plasma screens, the TH-65VX100E and TH-50VX100E. Both displays have a Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080). The TH-65VX100E even offers the world’s highest contrast ratio of 60,000:1.
The new generation of plasma displays is distinguished by the use of the advanced "Dynamic Black Layer" structure. This technology reduces to one sixth the illumination as compared with conventional models which is caused by pre-discharging and is typical of plasma devices. Therefore, black tones are unspoiled and there is no lightening into grey. The result is an outstanding contrast ratio of 60,000:1 in the TH-65VX100E and 40,000:1 in the TH-50VX100E.

With the use of this newly developed technology and also because of its optical filter, the new 65-inch screen extends the colour scale of the HDTV standard and thereby displays the entire colour spectrum of the digital cinema industry. Furthermore, the 18-Bit signal processing and the "Digital Colour Reality“ technology from Panasonic allow for detailed shadowing from bright to dark, with up to 7,160 levels.
In order to cover all individual needs, 16 different settings can be adjusted manually. As well as the option to select from six different gamma curves, a white balance can also be carried out via the models’ integrated colour management. Using the extended memory functionality, individual pre-defined settings can be adjusted and saved. However, it is not only the interior qualities of the new plasma displays that are convincing: with the black aluminium frame, they boast a design that is both modern and timeless and will fit perfectly into any atmosphere.
The TH-65VX100E will be available from January 2009 and the TH-50VX100E will follow in February 2009.
