Samsung promises DVD deck capable of handling Blu-Ray and HD-DVD

With the long-mooted upcoming format war between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD technologies looking increasingly likely to become a reality, Samsung has boldly announced that it will have a DVD deck capable of handling both formats available at some point next year. The promise came from Samsung's head of consumer electronics, Choi Gee-sun, during a recent interview with the Financial Times Deutschland. The paper quotes Gee-sun as saying: "It won't be simple but you'll see our solution in the coming year. Consumers will be too confused otherwise."
