Sony: Android TV 7.0 coming to 2017, 2016 & 2015 TVs - FlatpanelsHD

At CES 2017, Motoi Kawamura, Head of TV Marketing and Product Planning for Sony Europe, confirmed to FlatpanelsHD that version 7.0 (Nougat) is coming to both 2016 and 2015 models – and of course 2017 TVs. Sony launched the first Android TVs in 2015.

Sony and Dolby announced a partnership at CES 2017 to bring the Dolby Vision HDR format to high-end 2017 models as well as last year’s Z9D/ZD9 flagship. Motoi Kawamura says that the update will be released later in 2017.

Lastly, Sony confirmed that HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), which is the third HDR format, will come to all 2017 models via an update later this year. Sony did not comment on 2016 models.
