Let’s turn next to the relatively recent issue some 2016 range owners are reporting with general black level fluctuations even when not watching Dolby Vision over HDMI.

Some users believe this problem was introduced by firmware update 05.30.03, but LG states in its reply that it doesn’t believe this issue has anything to do with any update. In fact, it isn’t aware of the issue at all. It is, however, keen to look into it further, and has asked for as many specific details as possible.

So if you are affected by this problem, please send details to my Twitter account (there’s a link at the end of this article), giving as much detail as possible. I can then forward the data to LG.

Think in particular about which sources you’ve seen the issue happen with including, if possible, specific examples, as well as the picture presets you’re using. If you’ve found any setting change that resolves the issue, please share that too.
