Xbox 360 = Achievements. PS3 = Entitlements 452 Views

Sony's been taking a lot of heat lately for copying what others in the industry are doing. I have no problem with that. It makes sense for a company to be looking around and making sure that their new product will have the best of what's being offered in the industry at the time.
Case in point: EGM's Dan Hsu recently mentioned that the Playstation 3 will have its own version of Xbox 360 Achievements called Entitlements. While it certainly sounds like something inspired by the 360, I think that it's great that Sony isn't too proud to recognize that Achievements have been tremendously successful and should be a part of gaming, no matter the platform.
I hope that the industry continues to do this. I would hate to see one company not do something just because their competition did it first. Brian Crecente

Sony Entitles Players to PS3 Points 444 Views

Achievements. The Xbox 360's scoring systems awards players points for completing various challenges in-game. This points are then tallied on players Gamer Cards. Sony has devised its own point system to encourage players, called not "achievements," but "entitlements." Dan Hsu at Electronic Gaming Monthly said Sony will be dishing out "entitlements" via the PlayStation 3. Combine the motion sensitive controller, the point system, the "new" controller, Sony has not only its Xbox 360 and Wii bases covered, but also its PlayStation 2 one. Though, calling something an "entitlement" doesn't exactly inspire players to strive for something. Brian Ashcraft
