De verdad, no comprendo nada, una salida de audio digital inutilizada por éstos problemas.

Ayer probando por óptico era el DTS el que petaba, por HDMI no tuve problema pero la samsung nu8005 no hace bitstream de dts así que toca fastidiarse en mi caso.

La verdad es que es una putada que tengáis tantos problemas y no los arreglen firm tras firm...
Yo lo uso conectado a un Marantz SR6013 y este a la TV y proyector para reproducir blurays en full hd y uhd desde un NAS y nunca he tenido ni un problema, archivos de 30-80GB en .iso, .mkv, carpetas, traga todo... Lo compre en Amazon reaco (venía igual que nuevo) por 100€ y más contento no puedo estar con el.

Si por HDMI no tengo problemas de cortes de audio, es por la salida óptica. Mi ampli no es compatible con HDR y me gustaría sacar el audio por óptico pero no haya manera.

Sabéis sin con el z9 podría acceder a Filmin.Mi TV no tiene Android.

"Tantos problemas" no tienen los Zidoo.
El puerto usb si es un problema para algunos modelos de discos externos autoalimentados por usb.
En mi caso tengo un disco externo con alimentación propia y JAMAS me ha fallado.
Tengo otro disco externo Seagate 4TB autoalimentado y me falla.
Para reproducir contenidos de alto bitrate es necesario utilizar el servicio SMB/NFS o conectar el disco por SATA.
La salida óptica si falla, al igual que el puerto usb conectado a un DAC.
De todas maneras la salida óptica tiene una limitación técnica al no reproducir contenidos HD y probablemente desaparecerá en los próximos mediacenter.
Lo normal es que el mediacenter disponga de una salida HDMI exclusiva para audio.
Supongo que Zidoo no le dedica tiempo a resolver este problema.
Si no tienes un homecinema con entradas HDMI el problema lo puedes resolver con un extractor HDMIde audio, en Amazon hay varios modelos y son económicos.

Yo todos los que encuentro son SATA a USB A pero mis dos discos duros externos de 2,5" son micro USB tipo B

Para que quieres otro cable cable convertidor?..
Tu disco duro externo lleva en su interior un convertidor micro USB B a SATA .
Tu idea es ponerle otro convertidor SATA a USB B.....dos "cuellos de botella".
Lo recomendable es conectar el puerto SATA del Zidoo al disco interno SATA y SIN CABLES ADAPTADORES.

Muchas gracias por las ideas, aunque la solución estaba en que lo estaba conectando por via WIFI y aunque cambié todo con dirección IP, en OPENWrt se ve que hay que quitar la opción que tenía activada:
Interface --> Adaptador ethernet (lan).
Lo desmarqué y sucedió el milagro, se arregló.
Madre mía sí que probé varias cosas.

Yo tenía el mismo problema que tú y conseguí el HDFury AVR Key usado (80pavos), nuevo vale casi el doble, y aunque me dio algún problema con el cable HDMI de 15m que tenía (Tuve que cambiarlo por uno de fibra óptica), ahora tengo el audio por un lado directo al AVR y el video separado hacia el proyector (desde el Z9S)
