PREGUNTA:
I recently got a E-MU 1616M PCI soundcard and my problem is this:
I have a seperate surroundsound decoder and it only has a s/pdif optical input. Whenever a (compressed?) 5.1 signal was sent through the s/pdif cable with my old soundcard, the decoder would recodnise it as such and decode the signal. However, I dont know how to set up PatchMix DSP so I can send a 5.1 signal through the s/pdif cable so I can watch my DVD's. All I can send at the moment is a setreo signal. Any ideas if it can be done?
Thanks
P.S. I will be getting a surroundsound decoder with a direct input . . . but I spent all my money on the 1616M card
PREGUNTA:
Ok. Now I know what i'm really looking for AC3/DTS Passthrough I did a search on these forums. What I have seen many times is "E-MU cards dont support AC3/DTS Passthrough YET". Is it likely that it will be inculded with a driver update? If so . . . when? I can see why they wouldent include it . . . but for me (at the moment) and for other people . . . it would be useful. Is there really an update coming? Or is it just wishful thinking?
RESPUESTA:
i`ve been waiting for 2 years to get a driver update with ac3 passtrough.
the last driver update is more than over a year ago, i think.i don`t think it will be ever included.

can you tell me why they wouldn`t ? is there a license emu would have to pay ?
i really don`t get emu`s decision.
