This is a mess. It is believed that Silicon Image Si9132 HDMI transmitter (found in PS3) is incapable of bit-streaming high bit-rate audio. I do not know it this includes DSD as well, but TrueHD and DTS-HD MA are affected.
Silicon Image folks claim that PS3 uses chip in par with Si9134 which is the first in their ranks to support high definition audio. Press release is here:

SiI9134 - HDMI 1.3 Transmitter Digital Audio Output:
* Supports Dolby® True HD and DTS-HD up to 24Mb/s through 4xI2S inputs
* DVD-Audio support through 4xI2S inputs
* Dedicated 8-pin interface to support Direct Stream Digital (DSD) Super Audio SACD
* Supports 2-channel audio at 192kHz and 8-channel audio at 192kHz
* Supports IEC60958 2-channel PCM or IEC61937 compressed audio (Dolby® Digital, DTS, etc.)
* Industry-standard S/PDIF output
The problem is that Si9132 is custom made for Sony and no-one really knows anything about it. It could be that is indeed the same as Si9134, or it may be the beta version of it and therefor lacking some stuff.
Un saludo
