Maybe other than I have wondered how it is possible to copy recorded TV from VT50 to PC, when it isn't possible to copy directly from the HDD if it is attached to a PC.
As I haven't seen anybody else come up with a solution I have created a little guide to show how this is possible.
The solution is very simple, and only requires a computer with VLC media player installed.
Make sure that DLNA server is enabled in network settings
Save a TV recording to the HDD attached to the TV
Open VLC media player and go to view --> playlist
Choose Local network --> Universal Plug’n’Play
Now the ”VIERA VT50 Series” server should appear in the window
Open the server, choose ”External HDD” and your recordings should show up
Right click on the desired recording, and hit “save”
Now it is possible to browse a destination for the file and choose which bitrate and file size you want. Remember to mark ”deinterlace” before starting
Done! After some time, depending on the networkspeed, filesize and CPU speed the file should be ready for playback on the device of your choice!
